The Story

Chef Roy Ner is the talented young chef behind Sydney’s fresh Middle Eastern restaurants, Nour and Lillah. Israeli-born Roy began his culinary career in 2002 in Israel, where he worked in top restaurants on the coast as well as in Tel Aviv. Wanting an international experience, Roy enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu Australia. Roy’s talent was immediately recognized by his instructors, including by Matt Moran, the chef/owner of the critically-acclaimed ARIA. During his tenure at ARIA, Roy quickly progressed up the chefs’ line, becoming ARIA’s sous chef within seven months. From there, Roy consulted on over two dozen projects with the Roussolini Group, crafting menus and restaurant concepts from the ground up. In 2016, Roy met Ibby Moubadder, who partnered with him to bring his Israeli influence to a new modern Middle Eastern concept, Nour. At Nour and Lillah, Roy brings his fervor for seasonality to each plate, pushing the limits of traditional flavors mixed with Australian products.
